The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration About Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
